So… What Does a Systems Strategist Actually Do?
If you’re new here, you may be wondering what it even means to work with a systems strategist. In simple terms? I help mompreneur service providers and mission-driven women build workflows that feel good and function well behind the scenes of their business. I break this down more in episode 100 of the podcast: What Does A Systems Strategist Do? And How Do I Know If I Need to Hire A Systems Strategist?
A system strategist doesn’t just plug tools together or set up your tech. We lead with strategy. We map out how things should flow first—then we choose and configure the tools that support that flow.
Whether it’s your client experience, internal operations, or even your household rhythms, systems are how we create space for what matters most.
What It’s Like to Work with a Systems Strategist (My Process)
When we work together, I guide you through a 4-phase framework I like to call Discover, Design, Develop, Deliver. It’s intentional, strategic, and customized to fit your business and your life.
1. Discover
This is the assessment phase. I ask the questions that help us pinpoint where things are breaking down and what kind of workflow or automation would truly serve you best. We get clear on what’s happening now and what’s possible moving forward.
2. Design
Once we know the goals and the gaps, I map out a customized workflow that fits your business model, client journey, and capacity. This isn’t just about what’s trendy—it’s about what’s sustainable and aligned. I define systems as the integration of your processes, people, and tools, and all of those pieces get considered in this phase.
3. Develop
This is where the magic happens behind the scenes. I build out your systems inside your tools—Dubsado, Zapier, Flodesk, ConvertKit, or whatever you’re already using. It’s like translating the map we created into a functional, tech-supported journey that works when you’re not working.
4. Deliver
Once everything is built, I hand off the keys. You get personalized tutorials, training, and two weeks of support (if you’re in the Harmony Systems Sprint) to make sure everything runs smoothly. You’re not left guessing—you’re equipped.
Built for Strategy, Wired for Simplicity: Working With a Systems Strategist
A while back I took a personality test and came out as an INTJ “The Architect.” The description literally said I “possess a rare combination of vision and pragmatism” and “approach life with a strategic mindset, always planning several steps ahead.”
That’s exactly how I show up in my client work. I’m constantly thinking about the bigger picture, looking for ways to streamline, simplify, and structure your systems so they actually serve you. Not just in business, but in life, too.
And I’m always going to advocate for solutions that are simple enough for you to manage. Strategy is only helpful if it fits your real life.
